J G Crawford Prize

The ANU College of Arts & Social Sciences and the School of History would like to congratulate Dr Christina Parolin (B Arts Hons 1990, PhD 2009) for being awarded the 2009 J G Crawford Prize for academic excellence for her PhD thesis entitled: “Radical Spaces: Venues of Popular Politics in London 1790-c1845.”
The J G Crawford Prize consists of an engraved medal in a case, a sum of $2,000, a framed certificate and a citation presented by The Chancellor of the University at the Conferring of Degrees ceremony held in December.
The Prize Fund is in recognition of Sir John Crawford's outstanding contribution to the University, both as Director of the Research School of Pacific Studies and as Vice-Chancellor, was established in 1973. The Fund annually supports up to three Prizes awarded annually to two PhD and one Master degree graduates admitted by the Council to their degrees during the previous year. Academic excellence is the basic criterion for the award of the Prizes.
The other 2009 Doctoral Prize winner was Dr Ivan Garanovich a PhD graduate from the Nonlinear Physics Centre, Research School of Physics and Engineering.
